Hartford Winterfest 2013

Hartford has much to be proud of, and at or near the top of the list should be Winterfest in Bushnell Park. In the photo above, the Winterfest ice rink is officially opened by Hartford Mayor Pedro E. Segarra; East Hartford Mayor Marcia Leclerc and  West Hartford Mayor Scott Slifka, along with his daughter Betsy and a jubilant Santa Claus.

The main attraction to Winterfest is the public ice skating ring featuring FREE rink admission and FREE skating rentals to any and all. For anyone (especially with children) looking for something to do on a winter afternoon or evening, this treasure is open seven days a week, now through February 1st.

To kick off the opening of Winterfest, Anne Cubberly (of Night Fall fame) and her amazing puppets made a guest appearance along with numerous dignitaries, including Santa Claus and Frosty the Snowman.
